CERTIFIED FLORIDA PROFESSIONAL MANAGER

 

As Certified Florida Professional Manager of Community Associations (CFPM) has achieved the standards identified and adopted by the Master Board of Certification for COMA.  By earning this certification, the professional demonstrated members of the profession, the public, association clients, and government authorities a commitment and interest providing a high level of quality community association management.  This Certification Program, which is voluntary provides assurance that the certified manager has demonstrated the knowledge necessary to perform fundamental community association management functions.

 

BACKGROUND

The Master Board of Certification for Community Association Managers was formed in October, 1999 as an independent affiliated organization by COMA; Condominium Owners, Managers & Associates, Inc. to administer the Certified Florida Professional Manager of Community Associations (CFPM) certification program. COMA has full authority overall all the certification program which was created for the benefit of the community association management profession and the communities and homeowners they serve.

 

The Goals of the Program are:

  • To enhance the professional practice of Community Association Management

  • To identify the knowledge necessary in that professional practice

  • To recognize those individuals who have demonstrated a satisfactory level of that knowledge.

The Master Board of Certification for COMA's Community Association Managers has adopted the current criteria for an individual to become a Certified Florida Professional Manager of Community Associations:

 

  • The Applicant must be a Community Association Manager

Additionally, applicant must:

  • Have successfully completed the State of Florida's basic educational requirement

  • A member in good standing of COMA-Condominium Owners, Managers, & Associates, Inc.

  • Complete all aspects of the Application form and pay the scheduled fees

  • Pass the Certification Exam.  This is an industry developed standardized examination which has been validated by COMA, approved by the Master Board, and administered by an independent recognized testing agency.

  • Agree to adhere to a Standards of Professional Conduct established and amended by the Master Board.  There is a disciplinary policy to respond to examples of conduct which is harmful to the public and clearly indicates incompetent or unethical behavior.  Removal of the certification is a sanction available to the Master Board.

  • Demonstrate, every two years, a commitment to continuing education program consistent with Master Board requirements.

The Master Board has adopted "Limited Additional provisions, applicable through October 1, 2002 for those practitioners who satisfactorily demonstrate experience in the profession.
